Hurricane Beryl made landfall on the Texas coast at Matagorda Bay, about halfway between Corpus Christi and Galveston at approximately 5:00 AM CDT. At landfall it was a category 1 hurricane, with sustained wind of 80 MPH after regaining strength overnight. Life threatening storm surge is possible in coastal areas, flash flood warnings and tropical storm warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service for Houston, and various counties in TX.
ICNA Relief’s Disaster Relief Services team has been activated for several days monitoring the path of this storm and preparing to respond. As Beryl continues to move inland the DRS team will be assessing the impact and collaborating with local and state emergency management as well as Texas VOAD and other non-government partners to provide help to survivors and affected communities.
