Hurricane Idalia formed Tuesday morning and is already strengthening as it continues into the Gulf of Mexico where the forecast projects it to strike Florida’s Big Bend area as a Category 3 hurricane. Powerful winds, flash flooding, and potentially life-threatening storm surges of up to 11 feet are expected in the area. The Tampa Bay region, heavily populated, might witness surges of 4 to 7 feet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
