Colin Smoak
Born in Liverpool, England and raised by an English mum and American dad. Dad retired from US Air Force when Colin was 17, returning to his home of SC and settling in Charleston. After finishing HS, the College of Charleston became home to Colin for the next 4 years where he played varsity soccer and moved into coaching CofC soccer after graduation. “While a passion of the heart, college soccer coaching was not passion of the pocket” at that time. Colin moved into the insurance industry and for the next 30+ years held various positions ultimately co-owning a private agency, selling the agency, and retired one year later in 2018. Hobbies are golf, bird watching, following soccer. Passionate about closing the disparity gaps in our community. Have held senior positions, awarded local and national honors but nothing compares to the honor and importance of being on the Advisory Board for Shifa Free Clinic and serving as a volunteer at the International African American Museum.
