ICNA Relief has provided food, shelter, emergency funds, medicines, medical care, emotional and spiritual support, and long-term recovery case management to the survivors of natural disasters; such as Hurricanes; Katrina, Rita, Ike, and Gustav, California wildfires, as well as post 9-11 recovery.
Our most recent efforts Last year during Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike, ICNA Relief worked with numerous federal, state and faith-based agencies such as FEMA, the American Red Cross, The US Department of Health and Human Services, The Texas Department of State Health Services, Louisiana Volunteer Organizations Assisting in Disasters, Catholic Charities of the USA, Lutheran Social Services, and the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Hurricane Gustav was the worst storm in the history of Baton Rouge; during Hurricane Gustav ICNA Relief staff helped 15 mosques along the evacuation route by setting up emergency shelters, providing volunteers for mass distribution of food and setting up generators for power. In the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav, ICNA Relief assisted survivors to apply for FEMA funds, reunite with lost family members, clean up debris and fallen trees and install tarp roofing for damaged homes. We provided post-disaster family counseling and deployed staff to participate in the Regional Disaster Case Management Team.
Our commitment continues ICNA Relief''s first response efforts alleviate critical needs of victims at the time of disaster.
