If a disaster strikes

We are ready, Are you?

Who are we?
ICNA Relief is the only national Muslim organization to offer a domestic disaster relief and recovery programs within the United States. ICNA Relief has been serving humanity for the last five years by bringing assistance to those who are in need during and after a natural disaster. ICNA Relief has provided food, shelter, emergency funds, medicines, medical care, emotional and spiritual support, and long-term recovery case management to the survivors of natural disasters; such as Hurricanes; Katrina, Rita, Ike, and Gustav, California wildfires, as well as post 9-11 recovery.

Our most recent efforts
Last year during Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike, ICNA Relief worked with numerous federal, state and faith-based agencies such as FEMA, the American Red Cross, The US Department of Health and Human Services, The Texas Department of State Health Services, Louisiana Volunteer Organizations Assisting in Disasters, Catholic Charities of the USA, Lutheran Social Services, and the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Hurricane Gustav was the worst storm in the history of Baton Rouge; during Hurricane Gustav ICNA Relief staff helped 15 mosques along the evacuation route by setting up emergency shelters, providing volunteers for mass distribution of food and setting up generators for power. In the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav, ICNA Relief assisted survivors to apply for FEMA funds, reunite with lost family members, clean up debris and fallen trees and install tarp roofing for damaged homes. We provided post-disaster family counseling and deployed staff to participate in the Regional Disaster Case Management Team.

Our commitment continues
ICNA Relief''s first response efforts alleviate critical needs of victims at the time of disaster. ICNA Relief has ongoing disaster recovery efforts in Louisiana and Texas to respond to various hurricane emergencies that have hit this region over the past five years. Our goal for 2011 is to continue to provide the long-term services needed for disaster recovery in these hard hit areas; we want to be well prepared so we can react immediately to the next disaster.

Help us to help again
ICNA Relief needs your continuous support and commitment to help those in need. ICNA Relief relies on donations from the Muslim community in order to maintain and expand its efforts. ICNA Relief thanks its donors for their commitment of generosity and kindness that has helped people in need across the United States. ICNA Relief is ready as always to help people this year in the upcoming hurricane season. In 2010 there are eight major Atlantic hurricanes expected to hit and affect the Eastern and the Gulf coasts of the United States. In the CNN news report out of the eight expected hurricanes, the forecasters predict that four will strengthen to major hurricanes, meaning Category 3 or higher on the Saffir-Simpson scale of strength. Category 3 storms have sustained winds of at least 111 mph. The forecast said the probability of a major hurricane making landfall along the U.S. coastline is 69 percent. Your financial support will enable ICNA Relief to prepare to help the needy in the upcoming hurricane season. You will be adding in the contribution of the Muslim community in the disaster relief in the United States and in doing so you will fulfill the commandment of Allah.

“You shall not attain righteousness until you spend out of what you love (in the way of Allah). Allah knows whatever you spend”. (3:92) Al Quran.
