AllahuAkbar,
We are very happy to report that Samina Khokhar's children have been reunited with her. After complying with court mandated bereavement counseling and parenting classes, the court ruled Samina was capable to care for her children. Mother and children were reunited on 1/26/12 after weeks of separation.
It was recognized by the court that the professional supports that ICNA Relief USA (IR) had put into place for Samina were sufficient to allow the return of the children. IR was able to provide responsive services for the family which adhered to the standards of the court. IR will continue to support the family in their healing process.
While the children and mother are reunited, they will remain under the scrutiny of the child welfare system. IR will continue to monitor the case and provide all necessary supports to ensure the family will remain together. These services will include an indepth service plan, continued counseling services, medical care and financial support so that the family can gain some level of self sufficiency after the passing of the family's sole provider.
